Background
I have participated in various jobs and hobbies that involve a lot of business card exchanging. I believe you never know when you may need a certain contact, so over the years I have accumulated quite the stack of cards. It has become difficult to sift through my large stack of cards and I couldn't help but feel like there must be a better way to store and manage all of these contacts. You can follow along my process below.
User Research
At first, six one-on-one interviews were performed. Four of the six said they barely collected business cards, so I decided to further my research by developing a survey.
There were 29 responses and again the majority of users said they barely collected business cards (see graph). I also asked if those who did collect business cards ever put them in their phone and WHY. The most interesting reason behind not inputting a business card's information into a phone was, "Because I have yet to get a useful business card."
While much of the research was hinting that there may not be much demand for this kind of app, enough people told me it was a cool idea so I decided to proceed anyway.
